2018 Project Pan

Hello, it’s been a bit!  The end of 2017 was absolutely crazy.  However, I’ve been thinking a lot about my collection.  While I love having a huge collection, I feel like there are certain items that I just don’t need anymore.  So, I’ve decided to do a project pan for this year!  Before I tell you what I will be panning, I wanted to break down my different reasons for getting rid of products.  In addition, I hope to post some updates throughout the year.

One big reason I want to pan some of these products is because they are not cruelty free.  When I decided to go cruelty free in 2017, I did not get rid of all the non-cruelty free products in my collection.  Since I had already spent the money, I felt that it would be wasteful to get rid of them.  So, I’ve been trying to use these specific products up.

Another reason I am panning some of these products is because they’re just mediocre, and don’t get enough use.  I’m constantly purchasing new makeup and I find that it’s a total waste if I’m not using my old things.  So, without further ado, here is what I am going to attempt to pan this year!

Disclaimer – some of these products either have pan or are somewhat used up.  I felt like this would be helpful since this is my first time attempting a project pan.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance: So i’ve already hit pan on two shades.  This is my absolute favorite palette, and I’ve actually already purchased a backup.  Before I open that one I want to use this one up!

Naked Basics: This is the first high end palette I ever purchased.  While I loved it, I just have too many neutral shadows.  Plus I have four full died naked palettes, so I just do not need this little guy in my collection anymore.

Colourpop “Making Moves”: I was accidentally sent this shadow twice.  It’s a nice orange toned eyeshadow and I feel as though I can hopefully use it all up.

Colourpop “Goody Two Shoes”: This shadow is one I purchased and I do not think I have used.  I’m not sure if I can completely finish this guy up, however, I would love to just see some pan on this.

Benefit “Hoola”: This is a pan version of the Benefit classic.  I have the box o’blush version, and I do not need two of these bronzers.  This is a nice everyday bronzer and I think I can hit pan.

MAC “Well Dressed”: This is a really pretty blush, and will work well layered with other blushes.  This is a MAC non-cruelty free item, and I’m just trying to move it out of my collection.

Nars “Orgasm”: Another non-cruelty free blush, however, I have already began to hit pan on this.  I love this blush but I certainly have similar shades.  It’s time for this baby to move on.

Coty Airspun Powder: This is another non-cruelty free item.  In addition, it’s not my favorite loose powder, and I would love to try some better loose powders this year.

Makeup Forever Pro Sculpting Duo: I used to love this product for travel.  However, the pan detached from the plastic and it is now difficult to transport.  Again, this is not cruelty free and needs to go.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder: I’ve been through a few of these and I have plenty of other powders.  It already has major pan and needs to leave the collection.

Benefit “Sugarbomb”: This product is super old, and I have another one in a palette.  It’s a stunning blush but I do not need two.

NYX Eyeshadow Base: My favorite eyeshadow prime is the two faced shadow insurance.  I don’t feel as though I need a large collection of eye primers and this one is just alright.

Colourpop “Crimper”: I have a million super shock shadows.  I love them, but kind of forget about them.  So, as this one is not my favorite shade, I want to try to use it up.

MAC Strobe Cream Mini: This is a product that is close to being gone.  I like mixing this in with primer.  It’s another non-cruelty free and it needs to go.

Benefit Professional Mini: This is very similar to my strobe cream.  It’s gotta get out, and in addition, I’m not a huge fan of the silicon type primers.

Este Edit Pore Vanishing Stick: This is almost gone as well and it’s very mediocre to me.

NYX Total Control Drop Foundation: This is about halfway gone.  This foundation is alright.  I felt like it was overpriced and I would just like to move it out of the collection.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer: I had a few of these concealers, and I loved them.  However, it’s not cruelty free and I shouldn’t hold on to it any longer.

I’m really hoping that I can use these items up!  Are you guys into project pans?  Are you trying to get rid of anything this year?

Until next time!

Going Cruelty Free

I’ve decided that in 2017, I will be transitioning my collection to cruelty free.  I feel that recently, there have been several Youtube channels focusing on cruelty free makeup and I’ve been inspired.

While researching, I’ve realized that a great amount of my collection is already cruelty free.  My plan for this transition is not to trash non-cruelty free items.  As someone who has purchased most everything in my collection, I’m not going to chuck out a NARS blush.  However, I have gone through and tagged these items with stickers, so I can remember which brands not to purchase from.

Cruelty free can be tricky sometimes, as parent companies may test, but the actual company does not.   In several cases, companies only test where it is required by law (ei China). I will personally still be purchasing from companies that are cruelty free, even if the parent company is not.  To me, if a parent company sees that their cruelty free businesses are doing better than the ones that animal test, perhaps they will change their testing policies.

While most of my favorite brands are cruelty free, there will be some products I will miss dearly.  Here’s a list of my products I will be missing the most.

1.) NARS : I will miss the NARS radiant creamy concealer so much.  It was the first high end concealer I had purchased and I loved it.  However, I do love Tarte Shape Tape and Urban Decay’s Naked Skin, so I shall survive.  Also, NARS Orgasm.  I have a bunch of Super Orgasm left, but the OG has been used heavily.  Yet, The Balm’s Hot Mamma, is a pretty spot on dupe, and this gives me an excuse to finally pick up Milani’s Luminoso.  It’s upsetting to give up NARS, but the fact that it did have cruelty free status and then just ditched really bothers me.

2.) Rimmel :Rimmel’s stay matte powder.  How many of these have I been through?  I have other powders I use but this has always been my go to translucent powder.  RIP to Rimmel.

3.) Maybelline : Age.  Rewind.  Concealer.  I freaking love this concealer.  It blends out so nicely, and is perfect for under the eyes.  However, the NYX HD is a nice drugstore option.

4.) MAC : Just everything MAC.  Their lipsticks are my favorite formula, and I wanted to repurchase their mineralized concealer.  The lipsticks will be my Achilles heal.  I believe I have fifteen or twenty, and it’s not like I should run out too soon, but I will mourn when I run out of Snob. While I love Fix Plus, Mario Badescu facial sprays work just as well.  MAC was one of the first high end brands I tried and I’m hoping I can find something to fill the void.

Honestly, it just doesn’t make sense for me to chuck the makeup I already own.  But, I will no longer be purchasing from companies who test on animals.  It’s 2017, and several other companies have clearly figured out a better way.

Remember, every company is different, and their aminal testing policies can be found on their websites!

Until next time!

Ulta Haul!!

unnamed-2

Today I went into Ulta to pick up a few essential drug store products before I head back to school, and naturally, I bought more than I anticipated (because I might actually be a hoarder) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.  The store was having some great sales, as well as buy one, get one for 50% off deals, so  I thought I’d share what I got, and my first impressions!  I’ll start off with my re-purchases, aka what I was actually supposed to get.

unnamed

Maybelline Baby Skin: This is by far one of my favorite primers, which was why I was re-purchasing.  This is a great primer that sells for an even better price.  It’s a bit similar to Porefessional by Benefit, but it’s clear.  I love this for days when I have a lighter makeup look.

unnamed-1

Rimmel Stay Matte Primer: So this is my kinda-sorta re-purchase.  I’ve been a huge fan of the Rimmel face primers for awhile, but this is a newer one for me.  Rather than being skin toned, which I typically purchase, this primer is white and matte.  It will be interesting to see how the matte works out for me.  So far, it swatched fairly well.

unnamed-4

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder: Recently, I’ve been loving my air buffed BB creme by Too Faced, and wanted a new pressed powder to try with it.  This Rimmel one, in the color “transparent”, was on sale, and I figured I’d give it a go.  It swatches nicely, so if it seems to work well with my BB creme, we’ll have a winner!

unnamed-3

Rimmel Natural Bronzer: Surprise, surprise, this is another Rimmel product.  I’ve recently gotten into contouring, and have become interested (obsessed) with different bronzers and highlights.  I grabbed this Rimmel bronzer in the color “Sunshine” because it was also on sale.  I’ve seen Rimmel bronzers on “top drugstore bronzers” lists, so I figured I’d give it a go.  When I swatched it, I realized it’s definitely too warm for me to contour with, but I think it will be a really nice glow.  I’ll for sure be wearing this when I don’t contour and want a quicker makeup look.

unnamed-2

NYX High Definition Blush: Speaking of countouring, I was on the hunt for this NYX blush in the color “taupe.”  I’ve heard it’s a perfect contour color for fair skin.  So far in my personal current makeup collection, I don’t feel like I have great contour colors at this point, so I’m very excited to try this bad boy out.

unnamed-6

NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder: I’m a lowkey kind of makeup junkie, so I’m slowly moving into the eyebrow territory.  I figured I’d try a simple, cheaper powder.  I’ve worked with this a little bit and I really like it so far.  The wax gives your brows a nice hold without being stiff, and the powder gives a little definition.  When I get my brows done in a few weeks so they aren’t messy (aka heinous) anymore, I’ll be sure to play with this again.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Metal: So I’m going to guestimate that the last time I purchased one of these babies, they had just been released.  As in I was still in high school and purchased colors like green and purple not knowing what the frig I was doing with makeup.  It’s safe to say I haven’t used these as a primer in probably, I don’t know, uh never.  But, I was getting sick of using a boring primer every single day.  When I saw this color, “Barely Branded”,  I figuered it would be great as an eyeshadow base.  I swatched this on my hand a while ago and it’s still vibrant and sticking, so I feel it will work great as a primer.  It also has a slighly pink undetone, which matches my skin tone fairly well.

unnamed-5

NYX Sex Bomb Femme Fatale Eyeshadow Palette: Ever since this palette came out I’ve been high key obsessing over it.  It’s only seven dollars, so I’m not sure why I never purchased it before, but today I finally did.  This just screams “going out on the town” at me.  I am dying to wear it out.  The red shadow scares me a little bit, but I’ll be playing with it!

I hope you guys enjoyed that, stay tuned at the end of July to see if any of these turn into favorite products!

Until next time!
