Colourpop Haul – New Releases!

unnamed

Hey guys!

I’ve been working on some longer posts (Subculture and favorite high end products), but they’ve been taking me a little longer than expected.  I want to make sure I give a thorough review.

Anyways, I put in a Colourpop order at the end of July.  It was super delayed but it finally came today.  This will not be a full review or anything as I’ve only swatched these products.  However, I thought I’d show you guys some of the new releases.  We shall see if they make it into my favorites for the month!

First off I grabbed their new “No Filter” concealer.  When I heard they were releasing concealers, I was thrilled.  Several of my favorite drug store concealers are not cruelty free, so I’ve been looking for an affordable option.  I have heard good things about these, but also that they oxidize.  I grabbed the shade fair neutral, so I’m hoping it works.  If it’s too deep, I don’t mind spending an extra $6.00 if the product is good!

I also picked up a pressed powder highlight in “Ruffle My Feathers.”  The yellow gold shade is right up my alley.  I enjoy their powdered duos, but those highlights were not poppin.  This one, at least the swatch, is way more promising.

In addition, I bought the pressed powder bronzer in “CA Dreaming.”  This is a warm toned bronzer and I cannot wait to try it out.  I am so excited that the brand has released pressed powders.  I couldn’t get into the supershock face formula.  The other cool thing is that these powders go for $8.00 in the compact, or you can save a buck and grab just a pan.  If you love creating your own palette than this will be great for you!

For an older product, I grabbed the eyebrow pencil in “Blondie.”  I had purchased this formula before but I bought a shade that was way too warm.  This one will hopefully work better for my brows.  I am excited to have a cheaper alternative to my Anastasia Brow Wiz.

Finally, I grabbed my first Colourpop eyeliner.  I have been really into using different liners on my waterline.  I love a nude or white for the day, and for more intense looks, I’ve been loving burgundy and black.  So, for the day, I picked up “HoneyDude.”  I hope this formula works out!  I think the color is perfected I can’t wait to try it.  For five dollars, if this is a good formula, I will defiantly pick up more colors.

unnamed-5

Do you guys like Colourpop?  I’m obsessed, they are certainly one of my favorite brands!  I want to grab the pressed shadow palette and highlight palette!  Also, cannot wait for them to hit Sephora this November!!  What’s your favorite product from them?

Until next time!

Quick Update!

I just wanted to give you guys a quick update on Monograms and Makeup!

First off, there have recently been a lot of posts about high end brands on my blog.  That’s because I love high end.  Howeverrrrrrr, I absolutely love affordable and drug store options too!  So, stay tuned, because there are going to be counter-parts to these posts.  There will be definitely be more variety coming up.

Secondly, I have also been doing a lot of hauls (that are about to go up).  First off, I had a moment of weakness for my wallet and made a few orders.  I thought it would be fun to show you guys what I bought!  I personally love watching haul videos and seeing what’s new.  Furthermore, I want to start doing monthly favorites.  I was thinking it may good to post hauls as well so that you guys can see if any new products will make the favorites club!

Third, I am wicked excited to say that I finally signed up for BoxyCharm, which is the only subscription service I’ve been truly interested in.  So, I will be doing monthly unboxings.  However, I am currently on the waiting list.  I’m hoping to get the September box if I can’t get the August!

Lastly, keep your eyes open for some new posts in the upcoming weeks:

  • Favorite Going Out Makeup
  • Affordable Skin Care
  • Several Lip Swatch Comparisons (MAC and Colourpop)
  • Subculture Palette Review
  • Cheap Makeup Storage

Until next time!

Ulta Essentials Haul!

unnamed

Today I ran to Ulta and grabbed some of my essentials, so I thought I would write a quick post about what I picked up

My reason for going to Ulta was to purchase a backup of my Too Faced Hangover RX Primer. I use this primer every single day. I have dry skin so silicon based primers are not my favorite. I love this primer as it is coconut water based and feels super moisturizing. This is actually my third time purchasing it!

I also grabbed a backup of my Mario Badescu facial sprays. I repurchased both the rose water and the green tea. I love the green tea for the morning, its extremely refreshing. I also love rose water in general for things like baking (the kitchen kind) so I can’t live without this spray. They’re great for priming before makeup, wetting brushes for foiling shadows, and reviving makeup looks after several hours of wear. At eight dollars a bottle, I totally recommend these!

I bought another Anastasia concealer. I use this every single day as an eye base under my eye primer. I’m not running out but this was on sale for ten dollars! They didn’t have the light shade I typically use, but I figured it didn’t mater too much if I just use it as a base.

I needed brush cleanser desperately as well. I typically use MAC, however, since the brand is not cruelty free, I needed to find a new one. I decided to try the Eco Tools brush cleanser. I have yet to try any Eco Tools brushes (I want to!), but I am excited to try the cleanser as it is on the cheaper side.

Finally, I picked up a few face masks from YesTo. I have tried the coconut before, but I have yet to try try the cotton. I used to love the Tony Moly masks, but alas they are not cruelty free. I do enjoy these masks and I can’t wait to try the cotton one!

This was a quick post but I hope you enjoyed it! What are your Ulta essentials?

Until next time!

Ulta Haul!!

unnamed-2

Today I went into Ulta to pick up a few essential drug store products before I head back to school, and naturally, I bought more than I anticipated (because I might actually be a hoarder) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.  The store was having some great sales, as well as buy one, get one for 50% off deals, so  I thought I’d share what I got, and my first impressions!  I’ll start off with my re-purchases, aka what I was actually supposed to get.

unnamed

Maybelline Baby Skin: This is by far one of my favorite primers, which was why I was re-purchasing.  This is a great primer that sells for an even better price.  It’s a bit similar to Porefessional by Benefit, but it’s clear.  I love this for days when I have a lighter makeup look.

unnamed-1

Rimmel Stay Matte Primer: So this is my kinda-sorta re-purchase.  I’ve been a huge fan of the Rimmel face primers for awhile, but this is a newer one for me.  Rather than being skin toned, which I typically purchase, this primer is white and matte.  It will be interesting to see how the matte works out for me.  So far, it swatched fairly well.

unnamed-4

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder: Recently, I’ve been loving my air buffed BB creme by Too Faced, and wanted a new pressed powder to try with it.  This Rimmel one, in the color “transparent”, was on sale, and I figured I’d give it a go.  It swatches nicely, so if it seems to work well with my BB creme, we’ll have a winner!

unnamed-3

Rimmel Natural Bronzer: Surprise, surprise, this is another Rimmel product.  I’ve recently gotten into contouring, and have become interested (obsessed) with different bronzers and highlights.  I grabbed this Rimmel bronzer in the color “Sunshine” because it was also on sale.  I’ve seen Rimmel bronzers on “top drugstore bronzers” lists, so I figured I’d give it a go.  When I swatched it, I realized it’s definitely too warm for me to contour with, but I think it will be a really nice glow.  I’ll for sure be wearing this when I don’t contour and want a quicker makeup look.

unnamed-2

NYX High Definition Blush: Speaking of countouring, I was on the hunt for this NYX blush in the color “taupe.”  I’ve heard it’s a perfect contour color for fair skin.  So far in my personal current makeup collection, I don’t feel like I have great contour colors at this point, so I’m very excited to try this bad boy out.

unnamed-6

NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder: I’m a lowkey kind of makeup junkie, so I’m slowly moving into the eyebrow territory.  I figured I’d try a simple, cheaper powder.  I’ve worked with this a little bit and I really like it so far.  The wax gives your brows a nice hold without being stiff, and the powder gives a little definition.  When I get my brows done in a few weeks so they aren’t messy (aka heinous) anymore, I’ll be sure to play with this again.

unnamed-1

Maybelline Color Tattoo Metal: So I’m going to guestimate that the last time I purchased one of these babies, they had just been released.  As in I was still in high school and purchased colors like green and purple not knowing what the frig I was doing with makeup.  It’s safe to say I haven’t used these as a primer in probably, I don’t know, uh never.  But, I was getting sick of using a boring primer every single day.  When I saw this color, “Barely Branded”,  I figuered it would be great as an eyeshadow base.  I swatched this on my hand a while ago and it’s still vibrant and sticking, so I feel it will work great as a primer.  It also has a slighly pink undetone, which matches my skin tone fairly well.

unnamed-5

NYX Sex Bomb Femme Fatale Eyeshadow Palette: Ever since this palette came out I’ve been high key obsessing over it.  It’s only seven dollars, so I’m not sure why I never purchased it before, but today I finally did.  This just screams “going out on the town” at me.  I am dying to wear it out.  The red shadow scares me a little bit, but I’ll be playing with it!

I hope you guys enjoyed that, stay tuned at the end of July to see if any of these turn into favorite products!

Until next time!

Nordstrom Rack Haul!

Hello beautiful people!

If you’ve never checked out the beauty section at Nordstrom Rack, get in your car right now and get down there.  The deals on high-end products are absolutely amazing.

So I went there looking for shoes for my cousins wedding.  I didn’t come out with any shoes, but I did come out with absolutey amazing makeup products at even more amazing prices.  I haven’t gotten to try any of these bad boys yet, but based on the brands, I’m hoping I’ll really love them!

(Side note: I’m really sorry again for the terrible photo quality, I promise I am upgrading in a few weeks!)

unnamedSo, at the rack I picked up three different things.

unnamed-3

1.) The Lorac Royal Eyeshadow Pallete Set :  This is a set that come with three Lorac eyeshadow quads.  They normally retail for thirty five dollars.  I paid about seventeen!  I really love Lorac shadows, and I’m excited to use these on a regular basis.  The colors are right up my alley as well, as they are fairly neutral.  They are called Plum Velvet, Silver Silk, and Gold Satain, aka these are the three basic colors I am always reaching for.  I can’t wait to try these beauties out!

unnamed-2

2.) Urban Decay Pulp Fiction Pallete: I love Urban Decay shadows, and I’m always using my Naked Palletes.  This baby was only fifteen dollars when it’s usually thirty five, so I figured I had to give it a go.  I realy love the looks of this pallete, with all the nuetral shadows.  It’ll be perfect for travel with it’s sleek packaging and minumum shadows.  When I quickly swatched some of these guys they were pigmented and smooth.

unnamed-1

3.) Too Faced Air Buffed BB Creme in Vanilla Glow: So, I usually stay away from buying foundation because I’m very happy with my Bare Minerals powder.  But, this retails for over thirty dollars and it was seven at the rack so I had to buy it because I’m an actual hoarder.  When I dipped my finger into this it’s almost the consistency of Boing by Benefit.  I’m really excited to try this out and stray from my normal powder routine.

So bottom line is, if you’ve never checked out Norstrom Rack for makeup before, do it!  You can get some great disconitnued products for amazing prices.

Until next time!
