Eyeshadow Palette Collection

I am a total eyeshadow palette junkie. If it’s warm toned, I gotta have it. If it’s limited edition, I gotta have it. If it’s new, I gotta have it. Over the last several years, I have acquired quite the collection. So, I figured that I would show you all my collection. Sine they’re are so many, I will only include a small blurb. If I have already reviewed it, I will link my article. I will also try to provide links for all the permanent products mentioned.

unnamed-1

Z-Palettes: You can find a full description here.

Anastasia World Traveler Shadow Couture (Limited Edition): I love this for the Summer.  There are several permanent shadows in here.  It’s a beautiful warm toned palette with pops of color.

Anastasia Modern Renaissance: This is my favorite palette in the entire world.  I love not only the warmth, but the quality of the shadows.

Lorac Pro: This is a great, classic palette to own.  It’s neutral enough without being too boring.

Lorac Pro 2: I used to use this alot more.  This palette is really cool toned but I still love using it on occasion.

Lorac Pro 3: I love this super neutral palette.  It’s perfect for a quick look.

Lorac Mega Pro 3 (Available Again For a Limited Time): If you can get your hands on this, get it now!!  This is such a great palette with so much variety, however, every color is wearable.

Lorac AfterGlo (Limited Edition): This was one of my first highend palettes.  I don’t use this too much but I love it for a pop of color.

Tarte GraveyardGirl Swamp Queen (Limited Edition?): This is a beautiful warmtoned, rosy gold palette.  It includes blush, bronzer and highlight, making it great for travel.

Tarte Tartelette In Bloom: If I have an interview, work etc., this is the palette I reach for.  The quality is amazing and the color scheme is timeless.

Tarte Rainforrest Of the Sea Volume I: I love this for the Summer.  The formula is gel-like and super easy for a quick look.

Tarte Maneater (Limited Edition): This should be permanent!  This is a beautiful warm palette with pops of cranberry.

Tarte Don’t Quit Your Day Dream (Limited Edition): This is another great palette.  It’s similar to the Maneater, but more neutral.  This is one of my favorite travel palettes for a weekend trip.

Morphe 35OM: This is such a handy palette, containing cool and warm browns, with reds and oranges.  It is completely and great for pairing with other shadows.

Morphe X Kathleenlights (Limited Edition): This palette made me fall in love with Morphe.  I love the color scheme as well as the quality.

Morphe Jaclyn Hill Palette (Limited Edition): Check out a full review here.

Morphe 12S: This is a complete shimmer palette, and this little guy lives on my vanity for when I need a pop of shimmer.

Too Faced Chocolate Bar: I love the formula of this palette and is perfect for everyday wear.

Too Faced Sweet Peach: The smell of this is amazing and I love the Springtime tones I get from this palette.

Too Faced White Chocolate Chip (Limited Edition): This is a alright palette.  It’s great for travel but not my favorite, however, I can’t seem to part with it! It’s too darn cute!

Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly (Limited Edition): I love this.  The smell is everything and the shade “Nuts About You” is the perfect warm matte.

Too Faced Country (Limited Edition): This is an OG palette in my collection.  I don’t use it too much now but its super pretty and I live for the names.

Too Faced Merry Macarons (Limited Edition): Alot of people hate the Too Faced holiday collections but I actually adore this particular palette.  The matte’s are super soft.

Too Faced Grande Cafe Hotel Palettes (Limited Edition): These are the Peppermint Mocha, Eggnog Latte, and Gingerbread Cookie palettes.  I love the face products and some of the eyeshadows are decent.  Not my favorite but I love how Christmas they are.

Urban Decay Naked: This is a classic, however, my newest Naked palette.  These palettes are nice qulity but just do not have enough mattes.

Urban Decay Naked 2: This is my least favorite Naked as it has more cool tones but it is nice quality.

Urban Decay Naked 3: I still love this palette.  I think the colors are super complimentary and stunning.

Urban Decay Naked Basics: I love this for pairing with other palettes, and mine is beat to hell!

Urban Decay Vice 4 (Limited Edition): I love the jewel tones in this palette.  I feel like it needs a few more mattes but I really enjoy this.

Urban Decay Electric Palette (Discontinued): I probably have like one occasion to wear this per year but I love the quality of these shadows.  When I do get a chance to use it, the look always comes out really cool.

Kylie Burgandy: I love love love this.  It’s beautiful for the Fall time.

Kylie Holiday 2016 (Limited Edition):  I love how unique the muted jewl tones in this palette are.  In addition, this is the best silver I have ever used.

Kylie’s Diary (Limited Edition): I think this is a super fun addition to my collection.  The hot pink in the middle is gorgeous.

Kat Von D Serpentina (Limited Edition): I love this palette as well.  The jewel tones are everything!

Kat Von D Metal Matte (Limited Edition): I wish this palette was permanent.  The amount of product and the quality is amazing.

Kat Von D Pastel Goth (Limited Edition): This is also beautiful.  Kat Von D totally perfected the matte pastels!

Makeup Geek Manny MUA (Limited Edition): Between the warm tones and Makeup Geek quality, this palette is one of my favorites.

Makeup Revolution Mermaids Forever: I need to use this palette more but I felt that this was a fun drugstore addition to my collection.

I hope you enjoyed my collection! If you would like to see swatches and a review of any of these palettes, please let me know! What’s your favorite palette?

Until next time!

Ulta Essentials Haul!

unnamed

Today I ran to Ulta and grabbed some of my essentials, so I thought I would write a quick post about what I picked up

My reason for going to Ulta was to purchase a backup of my Too Faced Hangover RX Primer. I use this primer every single day. I have dry skin so silicon based primers are not my favorite. I love this primer as it is coconut water based and feels super moisturizing. This is actually my third time purchasing it!

I also grabbed a backup of my Mario Badescu facial sprays. I repurchased both the rose water and the green tea. I love the green tea for the morning, its extremely refreshing. I also love rose water in general for things like baking (the kitchen kind) so I can’t live without this spray. They’re great for priming before makeup, wetting brushes for foiling shadows, and reviving makeup looks after several hours of wear. At eight dollars a bottle, I totally recommend these!

I bought another Anastasia concealer. I use this every single day as an eye base under my eye primer. I’m not running out but this was on sale for ten dollars! They didn’t have the light shade I typically use, but I figured it didn’t mater too much if I just use it as a base.

I needed brush cleanser desperately as well. I typically use MAC, however, since the brand is not cruelty free, I needed to find a new one. I decided to try the Eco Tools brush cleanser. I have yet to try any Eco Tools brushes (I want to!), but I am excited to try the cleanser as it is on the cheaper side.

Finally, I picked up a few face masks from YesTo. I have tried the coconut before, but I have yet to try try the cotton. I used to love the Tony Moly masks, but alas they are not cruelty free. I do enjoy these masks and I can’t wait to try the cotton one!

This was a quick post but I hope you enjoyed it! What are your Ulta essentials?

Until next time!

Anastasia Glow Kit Comparisons

unnamed

Although I have quite the highlighter collection, some of my favorites come from the Anastasia Glow Kits.  For $40.00 a pop, you’re getting four or six good sized highlights.  There are countless options.

I own six of them currently.  I have “Gleam”, “That Glow”, “Sun Dipped”, “Sweets”, “Moonchild”, and the Nicole Guerriero.  While I won’t take this this post to talk about each shade individually, I will show you swatches and give you some quick thoughts on the kit over all.  Some are easily available and some you may have to search online for, but hopefully you will be able to see what kit may fit your needs the best.

These highlights are not for the faint of heart.  These are not your “glow from within” kind of products.  But, if you like a wham bam in your face glow, you need to snatch up one (or all) of these babies up pronto!

“Gleam”

Hard Candy, Mimosa, Starburst, Crushed Pearl

This was my first kit.  If you love pink tones this will be right up your alley.

“That Glow”

Sunburst, Golden Bronze, Bubbly, Dripping In Gold

This is kind of the plain Jane one to me.  Beautiful and the quality is amazing as always, but kind of boring.

“Sun Dipped”

Bronzed, Summer, Tourmaline, Moonstone

This is of course perfect for the Summer, and may be suited more for deeper skin tones.

“Sweets”

Marshmallow, Sassy Grape, Butterscotch, Taffy

This is a more natural way to play with color, and bring a little fun into your routine.

“Moonchild”

Blue Ice, Star, Purple Horseshoe, Pink Heart, Lucky Clover, Blue Moon

This is my favorite kit.  I love layering it with a white or gold highlight.

“Nicole Guerriero”

Kitty Kat, Forever Young, Daydream, Forever Lit, Glo Getter, 143

This is my least favorite kit.  While I adore the color scheme the formula seems a bit different and a little chunky.

Do you have a favorite kit?  Or, do you feel like highlighters all look pretty similar?

Until next time!

Z-Palette – Single Shadow Collection

I’m such an eyeshadow palette hoarder.  I have probably over forty palettes.  Although I love them, there are few that actually have every single shadow I need.  I feel as though the majority of my palettes are missing a nude color, a highlight or a good transition color.

As of recent, I’ve been loving single eyeshadows.  On days where I don’t feel inspired, or I’m just in a rush, I love reaching for my handmade palettes.  Since every color is hand selected, I don’t feel like I’m struggling to create a look.  I also love buying single shadows, since it’s a more affordable way to try out colors that seem out of your comfort zone.

I currently have two palettes: a warmer, peachy toned one and a pink/purpler cooler tone.  I would love to expand my collection into a neutral, warm, pinks/purples and blue/greens.  I currently have them in Z-palettes.  I know there has been poor customer service going on at Z-palette but at the moment, I can’t bring myself to spend money on a different option.  (If you have any suggestions for the future though, please let me know!)

My collection consists of Colourpop, MAC, Makeup Geek, Urban Decay and Coastal Scents.  They are labeled down below.  Enjoy!

* Disclaimer – Some of these swatches suck.  I’m sorry!  Some of it’s my fault and some of them perform better than they swatch!  Also, I’m super pale and some shades just don’t show up on me!  I’m going to keep working on my swatch photo-taking though, stay tuned for improvement! *

Warm-Toned Peachy Palette:

Colourpop “Let Me Explain” –  This is a perfect light gold highlight shade.  It is a very pale yellow gold and would look stunning on several different skin tones.

Colourpop “Firefly” – This is a matte bone shade.  It’s uber pigmented and perfect for setting down primer.

Colourpop “Locked and Loaded” – This is a matte pale yellow.  Again, I love using this to set my primer and really brightening up the lid.

Colourpop “Tiki” – This is a satin golden yellow with gold flecks.  This is a great lid color, especially in the spring and summer.

Colourpop “Paper Tiger” – This is a gorgeous mustard toned yellow-brown shade.  I love this both on the lid and in the crease.

Makeup Geek “Peach Smoothie” – This is a pale peach shade that is a beautiful transition color.

Coastal Scents “Pumpkin Pie” – This is a very pale mustard tan color that is another great transition shade.

Coastal Scents “Caramel” – This is similar to “Paper Tiger”, but lighter.

Colourpop “Take A Break” – This is a bronze metallic shade, that leans rather pink.  It is stunning all over the lid.

MAC “All That Glitters” – This is a metallic bronze shade, yet this leans more towards the brown end of the spectrum.

Colourpop “Note To Self” – This is a mid-toned, warm brown.  This is a perfect crease shade for warm eye lovers.

Makeup Geek “Frappe” – This is similar to “Note To Self.”  The shadow is extremely bendable and again amazing in the crease.

Colourpop “Bel Air” – This is a neutral medium brown.  It’s not only perfect for the lid and the crease, but can work with both warm and cool looks.

Colourpop “Top Notch” – This is the first of three very similar shades.  This is a deeper, very warm brown.  I’d say this leans more towards a red brown.

Coastal Scents “Oktoberfest” – This is another warm brown, but I find it to be a little more yellow toned.

Makeup Geek “Cocoa Bear” – This is another red toned warm brown.  I love all three and I love them for deepening up a look.

Coastal Scents “Deep Cider” – This is a warm black-brown with flecks of gold, yet comes off pretty matte.  This is great for deepening up the crease.

Colourpop “Issues” – This is a peach transition shade, similar to “Peach Smoothie,” but much more warm.  If you love peach toned eyes, go and buy this A$AP.

Colourpop “Centerfold” – This is a neon matte peach.  I love this in the crease.

Colourpop “Wait For It” – This is similar to “Centerfold” but it leans more pink and not as neon.

Colourpop “I Owe You” – This is a soft nectar matte shade.  This is again beautiful in the crease.

Colourpop “ Making Moves” (Duplicate) –  I received two by accident, but I don’t mind!  This is a matte hot red-orange shade.

Colourpop “Slim Fit” – This is a neon deep peach matte shade.

Colourpop “Cut Outs” – This is a matte red-toned medium peach shade.

Makeup Geek “Morocco” – This is a matte burnt orange shade, and again, is lovely in the crease.

Colourpop “Pinky Promise” – This is a metallic burgundy shade, and is gorgeous on the lid.

unnamed-2

Let Me Explain, Firefly, Locked and Loaded, Tiki, Paper Tiger, Peach Smoothie, Pumpkin Pie

unnamed-3

Caramel, Take A Break, All That Glitters, Note To Self, Frappe, Bel Air, Top Notch

unnamed-4

Oktoberfest, Cocoa Bear, Deep Cider, Issues, Centerfold, Wait For It, I Owe You

unnamed-5

Making Moves, Making Moves, Slim Fit, Cut Outs, Morocco, Pinky Promise

Cool-Toned Pink/Purple Palette:

MAC “Filament” – This is a horrible chunky silver shadow, but it was my first product from MAC, so I keep it for sentimental value.

MAC “Gesso” – This is a matte white.

MAC “Brule” – This is a matte nude shade, which is great for setting down primer.

MAC “Omega” – This is a matte, light cool-toned brown.  This is a nice transition shade for a cool toned look.

Coastal Scents “Deep Merlot” – This is a metallic purple-grey, which is perfect for the lid.

Colourpop “Cloud Nine” – This is a matte, deep plum toned brown.  This is great for deepening up the crease.

Colourpop “Goody Two Shoes” – This is a gunmetal metallic grey.

MAC “Digit” – This is a pale lilac satin, and beautiful for a Spring eye look.

MAC “Beautiful Iris” – This is a more lavender satin shadow, and is again beautiful on the lid.

Coastal Scents “Antique Lilac” – This is a pale matte purple, and would make for a nice transition or crease shade.

Colourpop “Silver Lining” – This is a grey toned purple, and would be stunning in the crease for a purple eye look.

Colourpop “143” – This is a pink toned purple (it reminds me of Barney) and is a fun pop of color without being too crazy.

Coastal Scents “Deep Grape” – This is a matte bright violet, and a beautiful way to incorporate purple into a look.

Colourpop “Piece of Cake” – This is a matte cerulean blue.  It is a bit patchy but defiantly workable.

Urban Decay “Scratch” – This is a metallic baby pink, and stunning on the lid.

Coastal Scents “Baby Pink” – This is a pale satin pink.

Colourpop “Labyrinth” – This is a matte mauve toned pink, and a beautiful crease color.

Coastal Scents “ Love Spell” – This is a bright pink matte.

Colourpop “Fair Play” – This is a hot red-toned matte pink.

Colourpop “Stay Golden” – this is a burnt pink-red shade.

Colourpop “Checkmate” – This is a harder shade to work with, but it is a matte pistachio green.

Colourpop Super Shock Shadow Collection

The colourpop super shock shadows are some of my favorite lid shadows.  The cream to powder formula is very unique in the makeup world and makes for some bold colors.  I typically use them with a densely packed flat brush to pack color onto the lid.  At five dollars a pop, I have created quite a collection.  I thought it would be fun to share with you which colors I own and which are my favorites!  Enjoy!

Golds :

unnamed

(Crimper, Get Lucky, Telepathy)

Crimper = Not my favorite shade.  It’s rather sheer coverage but might make for a nice inner corner highlight.

Get Lucky = I highly recommend this shade.  It reminds me of Urban Decay’s “Half Baked” and it is a true gold.

Telepathy = This is one of my favorites.  This is from the Kathleen Lights “In the Night” collection and it is such a unique color.  While it shifts gold, it is a chartreuse yellow-green type of shade.  It’s one of the ultra-metallic finishes and I cannot recommend it enough.  I have some similar shades but nothing quite like it.

Rose Golds :

unnamed-1

(Weenie, Friendship File, Catnap, Birthday Cake)

Weenie = This is another favorite.  This is a true rose gold and is a pearlized finish.  It’s perfect for a glam eye look.

Friendship File (Hello Kitty Collection Limited Edition) = This is a rosy gold metallic.  It has quite a bit of glitter.

Catnap (Limited Edition – May come back) = This is a metallic and somewhat purple toned as well.  This is beautiful all over the lid with taupe shadows.

Birthday Cake (Limited Edition) = This is an ultra-glitter.  This leans more pink and again looks stunning on the lid.

Pinks & Purples :

unnamed-2

(Puppy Love, Small Gift, Eye Candy)

Puppy Love (Limited Edition – May come back) = This is a pearlized baby pink.  It’s very pale and leans a tad peach.

Small Gift (Hello Kitty Collection Limited Edition) = This is a metallic.  This is a salmon shade that would work beautifully with warm browns.

Eye Candy = This is one of my least favorite.  This is a lavender metallic, however, it is rather sheer.

Peaches :

unnamed-3

(Flipper, Kennedy)

Flipper = I love this shade.  This is a metallic tangerine shade and looks phenomenal with the blow me away quad, or any peachy tones.

Kennedy = This is a matte peach.  While I typically don’t love the super shock mattes I enjoy putting this on the lid while using a warm brown in the crease.

Reds & Burgundies :

unnamed-5

(Baby Talk, Fooling Around, Drift, Porter)

Baby Talk (Valentines Day Collection) = This is one of their pressed pigments.  This is a vibrant red which is mostly matte with flecks of glitter.

Fooling Around (Valentines Day Collection) = This is another pressed pigment.  This is a shimmering merlot shade that is absolutely stunning.  If you love super warm tones you would love this.

Drift = This is a pearlized burgundy.  This is a perfect fall or winter shade.

Porter = This is also from the “Where the Night Is” Collection.  Theses a similar color to drift, but a metallic burgundy.  I prefer this one to drift.

Blues :

unnamed-4

(Belladonna Lilly, Flowershop, School Bus, Luckfully, Partridge)

Belladonna Lilly = This is another matte that I love.  This is a classic Tiffany blue, and a gorgeous Spring time color.

Flowershop = This is a pearlized shade.  In addition, this is a perfect mermaid shade.  It’s a beautiful teal which I feel is unique to my collection.

School Bus (Hello Kitty Collection Limited Edition) = This is  pearlized navy.  I need to use these types of shadows more.  It’s a nice color but does not get too much use.

Luckfully = This is a pearlized cobalt.  It’s super pigmented and I would recommend if you want a blue in your collection.

Partridge = This is a duo chrome shade.  It is similar to MAC’s blue-brown pigment and a great addition to my collection.

Neutrals :

unnamed-6

(Rainbow, Cornelious, Kathleenlights, Bandit, Midnight)

Rainbow = This is a glitter sheer shade.  It is an icy white.  I don’t love the sheerness but love the tone of this white.

Cornelious = This is a matte mid-toned brown that was released with the “In the Night Collection.”  It’s nice to have but not my favorite.

Kathleenlights = This is obviously from Kathleen Light’s “In the Light” collection.  This is one of my favorite shades.  It is a pearlized bronze and is a great shade to use all over the eye for a quick look.

Bandit = This is a super warm matter brown.  I really enjoy this shade on the lid while using softer browns in the crease.

Midnight = This is another “In the Night” release.  This is a black with tons of gold flecks in it.  I don’t use this shade enough but I really love it.

I hope you enjoyed my collection!

Until next time!

Favorite Summer Palettes

Honestly I don’t understand how July is flying by.  While I’m literally dying for fall and will put up Halloween decorations in August, I feel like I still need to squeeze out more Summer!  I’ve only hit the beach once!  Today I wanted to talk about my favorite Summer palettes.

I will say, I tend not to wear as much makeup in the Summer.  However, because I am a makeup junkie, I do wear a full face at least three to four times a week, if not more.  So don’t you worry, my collection gets some love.  Eyeshadow palettes are one of my obsessions and there are certainly some I gravitate more towards in the Summer.

Colourpop Blow Me Away Quad: Okay, so although I bought this as a quad, I threw these shadows into one of my Zpalettes.  However, I’ve been using this combo of shadows literally alllllllll the time.  First of all, if you haven’t tried Colourpop’s pressed shadows, open up a new tab immediately and go try some.  They’re five bucks a pop and the quality is really great! These four colors are phenomenal though.  The one metallic is “Take a Break,” and it’s basically a better version of MAC’s “All That Glitters.”  I’ve been using it all over the lid for a bronzed touch.  The next shade, “Issues” is very similar to Makeup Geek’s “Peach Smoothie” but, I love this one so much more.  It’s more peach toned and vibrant, it’s become why new favorite transition shade.  I’ve made such a dent, I’ve already bought a backup!  The next shade is “Centerfold” and it’s a matte neon peach.  I’ve enjoyed popping this and the last shade, “Slim Fit” (a matte neon orange-red) into the crease to really create a Summery eye.  I personally pull in a warm toned brown just to really deepen the crease, but this palette has truly been my favorite thing this summer.  In fact, the whole nectar collection has been one of my favorite launches!  The super shock shadow “Flipper” and the pressed face palettes are also favorites.

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea (“Limited Edition” – It’s still kicking around Sephora’s website): When this palette came out last year, a lot of people were unimpressed.  I however, have really enjoyed this palette.  If I want a super glam look, I would never reach for this.  There are only two matte shades and then all shimmers/metallics.  However, I love this for traveling and low-key Summer days.  This palette is a very different formula than Tarte’s other products.  The shadows are a gel-like consistency and make them super easy to glide on to the eye.  I typically don’t create eye looks with too much dimension with this palette, but it’s something I reach for on the regular in the Summer for a quick wash of color on the eyes.  It’s neutral and perfect for subtle looks.

Anastasia Shadow Couture World Traveler (Limited Edition):  This little guy holds such a big place in my heart.  This was limited edition but most shadows housed in this palette are part of Anastasia’s permanent collection, so you will be able to find them.  This was one of the first high end palettes I ever purchased.  More importantly, this is what caused me to fall in love with warm toned shadows.  I was so scared at first to use “Morocco,” but once I attempted, I fell in love with warm toned eyes and I have never looked back.  I love this palette for it’s peachy neutrals and pops of color.  It’s perfect for day or night looks, and I find myself grabbing for it most often in the Summertime.

Too Faced Sweet Peach:  I feel like this palette is the most drama filled thing in my collection.  When this first launched as limited edition, people were so angry that this sold out!  I personally did not get mine until Christmastime so I’ve been really enjoying this palette in the Spring and Summer months.  Some people think Too Faced is going down the tubes, but I disagree.  When people hated their holiday collection, I absolutely loved their “Merry Macaron” palette.  I think it’s all about preference and I’ve been a Too Faced fan since my junior year of high school.  Anyways, if you couldn’t tell from my description of the Colourpop quad, I’m obsessed with peach tones.  This palette clearly doesn’t lack, plus it smells like peaches.  It’s heaven.  My one complaint with this palette is that I wish there were more mattes, but you can still obtain a full look with the Sweet Peach.  I personally recommend and I find it similar to the “Chocolate Bar” palette formula.

Lorac Pro 3:   Now, I agree that this is not formulated as well as the first and second Lorac Pros.  However, this is my favorite color scheme (not including the Mega Pro 3).  The earthy tones are so great for Summer.  When I want natural and light face makeup, this is a palette I always reach for.  I find that it enhances the eyes without making them the focal point, which is perfect for a quick Summer look.  In addition, I literally live for the amount of transition shades included in this palette.

Morphe 35OM:  I wish I had purchased the original 35O.  But alas, I purchased this when I was in my “I have super hooded eyes so I’m convinced I can only wear mattes” phase. *eye roll*  Anyways, I still get a great deal of use of this palette.  I love pairing this with Colourpop super shock shadows on the lid, or the Morphe 12S, an all shimmer palette.  This palette is fantastic as it holds both cool and warm browns.  But, the real reason I love this palette is for the reds and oranges.  It screams sunset to me, and there’s countless looks to be made.

Summertime to me means relaxing, having fun, and using some bright colors!  These are personally my favorite palettes for the Summer season.  What are your favorites, and do you cycle through your makeup based on the season?

Until next time!

Jaclyn Hill Palette – Worth the Hype?

unnamed-1

I’m going to start this post with a few disclaimers:

1.) Yes – I’m aware of the hype surrounding this palette.

2.) Some people think Youtuber collaborations are never good – I will be shortly posting a whole article on this topic.  I am a fan of Jaclyn but if the palette wasn’t great, I’d let you know!

3.) While I am a fan of Morphe, they’re not my number one brand.  I love the palettes I own but I would never go as far to call them my favorite.

Now that those are out of the way, I’m just going to say I am IN LOVE with this palette.  First of all, the packaging is beautiful.  While white packaging obviously gets trashed pretty quickly, I kind of love it.  It reminds my of my Lorac Mega Pro 3.  I personally love when my palettes look used, as it seems like they are loved.

unnamed-2

The palette is currently sold out, however it will be re-stocked.  I waited for about thirty minutes to check out when purchasing during the launch, it sold out in about forty minutes. It retails for $38.00 and you can always find Morphe affiliate codes (and of course Jaclyn’s) all over Youtube if you want to save some money.

The actual color layout of this palette is phenomenal.  First of all you have a ton of warm tones.  I live for a warm eye and this palette doesn’t disappoint.  However, there are pops of purple and teal that are beautiful.  I feel like you have almost everything in this palette : warms, cools, pops of color and smokey tones.  My one complaint is that for my fair skin, there is no good cream or white shade to set down my primer.  Nevertheless, I have enough shadows in my collection to use in conjunction, or I can always use a setting powder.

Now for the actual formulation.  This took Jaclyn two years to create.  Each shade was formulated differently.  I personally think it shows.  The mattes are super blend-able as well as pigmented.  What I’m even more impressed with is the pigmentation of the metallics.  I typically enjoy Morphe’s shimmers over their mattes, but I feel like these metallics are even superior to their typical shadows. I used the bright teal the other day and did not need to apply a setting spray at all to wet the brush.  The eye appeared foiled without being wet.  You will be able to see in my swatches just how concentrated and pigmented the shadows are.  I will also add that the mattes perform better than they swatch!

unnamed

These will be swatched from left to right, seven across for five rows!

Enlight, Beam, Silk Creme, M.F.E.O, Faint, Sissy, Little Lady

unnamed-3

Creamsicle, Butter, Pooter, Pukey, Hunts, Firework, Queen

unnamed-4

Obsessed, S.B.N, Hillster, Roxanne, Jacz, Buns, Cranapple

unnamed-5

Royalty, Twerk, Hustle, Meeks, 24/7, Chip, Mocha

unnamed-6

Pool Party, Jada, Diva, Enchanted, Central Park, Soda Pop, Abyss

unnamed-7

I also included a side by side comparison of the Jaclyn Hill palette and the 35OM as some people have voiced that they felt it was basically a copy of the 35O (I don’t own the original to compare it to, only the matte version).  I personally feel as though they are both pretty different!

unnamed-8

I totally recommend this palette and I hope you can get your hands on it!

Until next time!

Going Cruelty Free

I’ve decided that in 2017, I will be transitioning my collection to cruelty free.  I feel that recently, there have been several Youtube channels focusing on cruelty free makeup and I’ve been inspired.

While researching, I’ve realized that a great amount of my collection is already cruelty free.  My plan for this transition is not to trash non-cruelty free items.  As someone who has purchased most everything in my collection, I’m not going to chuck out a NARS blush.  However, I have gone through and tagged these items with stickers, so I can remember which brands not to purchase from.

Cruelty free can be tricky sometimes, as parent companies may test, but the actual company does not.   In several cases, companies only test where it is required by law (ei China). I will personally still be purchasing from companies that are cruelty free, even if the parent company is not.  To me, if a parent company sees that their cruelty free businesses are doing better than the ones that animal test, perhaps they will change their testing policies.

While most of my favorite brands are cruelty free, there will be some products I will miss dearly.  Here’s a list of my products I will be missing the most.

1.) NARS : I will miss the NARS radiant creamy concealer so much.  It was the first high end concealer I had purchased and I loved it.  However, I do love Tarte Shape Tape and Urban Decay’s Naked Skin, so I shall survive.  Also, NARS Orgasm.  I have a bunch of Super Orgasm left, but the OG has been used heavily.  Yet, The Balm’s Hot Mamma, is a pretty spot on dupe, and this gives me an excuse to finally pick up Milani’s Luminoso.  It’s upsetting to give up NARS, but the fact that it did have cruelty free status and then just ditched really bothers me.

2.) Rimmel :Rimmel’s stay matte powder.  How many of these have I been through?  I have other powders I use but this has always been my go to translucent powder.  RIP to Rimmel.

3.) Maybelline : Age.  Rewind.  Concealer.  I freaking love this concealer.  It blends out so nicely, and is perfect for under the eyes.  However, the NYX HD is a nice drugstore option.

4.) MAC : Just everything MAC.  Their lipsticks are my favorite formula, and I wanted to repurchase their mineralized concealer.  The lipsticks will be my Achilles heal.  I believe I have fifteen or twenty, and it’s not like I should run out too soon, but I will mourn when I run out of Snob. While I love Fix Plus, Mario Badescu facial sprays work just as well.  MAC was one of the first high end brands I tried and I’m hoping I can find something to fill the void.

Honestly, it just doesn’t make sense for me to chuck the makeup I already own.  But, I will no longer be purchasing from companies who test on animals.  It’s 2017, and several other companies have clearly figured out a better way.

Remember, every company is different, and their aminal testing policies can be found on their websites!

Until next time!

I’m back…and hopefully for good!

Hello everyone!

I feel like I’ve written this same post a million times.  I always have good intentions to religiously keep up with blogging, but life gets in the way.

When I was in high school, I started watching Youtube videos, and began to get into makeup.  Over the next few years, I expanded my collection, and also my knowledge.  Looking back at the original posts in this blog, I feel as though I have a much better basis and understanding of the makeup world.

In addition, as my own personal beauty knowledge has changed, so has the beauty community in general.  It seems like there are so many influencers based in California.  While I absolutely love watching these Youtubers, I want to bring an East Coast perspective to the beauty world.

Now that I’m done with school and studying, I have been thinking about blogging quite often.   I’m really going to try to keep this blog going.  I hope to post new content a few times a week.  Wish me luck!
